The 2025 Asia Inclusive and Responsible Business (IRB) Forum, held on February 11–12 at the Eastin Grand Sathorn Hotel, brought together industry leaders, civil society representatives, and policymakers to explore the future of sustainable business in Asia. Organized by Oxfam in Asia and Sal Forest Co. Ltd., the forum built on the success of its inaugural 2023 event, fostering dialogue on innovative strategies to promote social equity and environmental stewardship.
Dr. Netithorn Praditsarn, Secretary-General of the UN Global Compact Network Thailand (UNGCNT), delivered a keynote address on “Supply Chain Management – Navigating Risks and Corporate Accountability”, emphasizing the urgent need for businesses to integrate sustainability into their core operations. He also provided key recommendations for cross-sector collaboration to shape a more inclusive and responsible business landscape.
For businesses, Dr. Netithorn underscored the importance of transparency and sustainability reporting, which enable companies to assess their operations, identify gaps, and uncover opportunities for improvement.
Regarding multi-stakeholder collaboration, he stressed that all actors share a mutual responsibility to drive inclusive and responsible business practices. He highlighted the crucial role of civil society organizations (CSOs) in fostering strong, proactive engagement at all levels. CSOs, he noted, play a vital role in supporting and monitoring businesses along the supply chain, helping to promote a “race to the top” while working collectively to develop sustainable, practical solutions aligned with a shared vision of a greener, safer future for all.
The forum featured thought leaders such as Ms. Pichamon Yeophantong from the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights, representatives from the EU Delegation to Thailand, and SMEs championing inclusivity within supply chains. Discussions focused on regulatory developments, corporate accountability, and the evolving role of businesses in ensuring responsible supply chains.
