The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are the collective plan of global commitments required to end extreme poverty and hunger, tackle climate change, and create a more peaceful, just, and equitable world by 2030. This is a significant multi-stakeholder effort that cannot be delivered by Governments and Civil Society alone. The actions, innovations, and finances of the private sector are critical to our ability to deliver.

Programme Officer, Business & Human Rights will be responsible for the development of a strategic work plan, identification of partnership opportunities and engagement with stakeholders, as well as the smooth implementation of activities in the area of business and human rights. The position will directly report to the Operations and Programme Manager of the UN Global Compact Network Thailand and be responsible for the following duties:

Technical lead and contributions:

  • Design and lead relevant various initiatives and interventions concerning business and human rights, including capacity building, dialogues, workshops, and seminars for business actors of various sizes and industrial backgrounds, including corporate participants of the UN Global Compact.
  • Develop, prepare, or contribute to various technical outputs and materials concerning business and human rights implementation, including proposals, concept notes and agendas, workshop materials and presentations, speeches, and policy advocacy, ensuring human rights language and voice of businesses are consistently mainstreamed.
  • Represent UN Global Compact Network Thailand in related workshops, meetings, and seminars on business and human rights.
  • Have profound understandings of UN Global Compact Network Thailand protocol pattern on managing both internal and external events, and on office daily duties.
  • Prepare materials related to Business and Human Rights on any occasions.

Partnerships and stakeholder engagement

  • Build strategic steps in the identification of and partnerships building with key partners and stakeholders in the area of business and human rights.
  • Actively engage and ensure consistent collaboration with stakeholders, including UN partner agencies, government, businesses, and UN Global Compact Network in other countries, to maintain good partnerships and seek opportunities for joint collaborations.
  • Maintain good relationship with any parties and delightfully treat any stakeholders that are all equal subject to the respect of human rights.

Administrative support

  • Any other administrative duties and support functions as assigned, for the successful implementation in the area of business and human rights.
  • Be the representative and intermediary on report costing and support accounting team on invoice and receipt issues that related to Business and Human Rights scope.


  • Language skills: Proficiency in Thai and English is required

  • EDUCATION: A first-level university degree in International Relations, Human Rights, Law, Political Sciences, Sociology, Development Management, or a related field is required.
  • WORK EXPERIENCE: Three-plus years of experience in progressive responsibilities in the fields of human rights, socio-economic development, sustainable business, ESG reporting and disclosures, SDGs, or any other related fields is required.
  • Solid technical knowledge and experience in business and human rights issues, human rights regulations, and policy frameworks is a strong asset.
